Public Vision for our Public Lands at the Celery Fields

I love that nature area , the bodies of water and the hill that was created. My dad also helped create the new nature center there and lovingly taught bird watching to the public for many years at Myakka State Park. Please preserve it and don't sell off to the highest bidder for usage that will damage the Celery Fields beauty.

The Celery Fields has become one of Sarasota's premier natural attractions because of the work done by so many volunteers. From birders, to athletes, this site continues to grow in popularity and actually brings people to the Sarasota area. Sarasota's elected officials need to recognize the importance of protecting the Celery Fields and creating more areas like this, as the community benefits on multiple levels from its existence.

I, too, agree that public lands should not be developed for industrial use but united with the Celery Fields.

No, not for now - we hope by reason and common sense to persuade the county to protect our public lands. If that fails, we'll see.

I have visited since 2003 and have joyfully watched the changes and improvements over that span; even hiking the hill behind the "Society" field house before it was beautified in recent times. It would be a crying shame if politicos were allowed to spoil what took so long to develop for the public. Political and corporate money should never prevail when the public and the natural land will be badly impacted

Please do not destroy the Celery Fields.

weve been visiting the Celery Fields for more than 20 years. Our Gtandfather, Owen Como ra, played a key role in promoting ornithology on the boardwalk there. Always a nice destination on our trips.

Keep our neighborhood and celery fields beautiful. Stop with the dirty money!

Please do not sell our public lands to private developers. Especially, anywhere near the Celery Fields and Tatum Ridge Elementary School!

We have enjoyed the beauty and multipurpose use of this natural treasure, help preserve it the public land for her Sarasota’s citizens.

Preserve public land for the citizens and wildlife that enhance Sarasota’s image as a livable paradise.

Please save the celery fields they do more than just provide a habitat for our wild life. They also provide a water retainage area preventing extensive downstream flooding.

Sarasota's character is much more than roads and building....preserve our environmental opportunities with lands and parks, as well as our unique cultural growth.

Sarasota County's future generations will thank us for our efforts to conserve the open space around the Celery Fields, to become the 'Central Park of Sarasota'. More than ever, we need our County Commissioners to shape a long-range vision for this area east of i75, as development encroaches from every direction.
