The situation requires an investigation that is impartial and JAC should not accept to reintegrate the accused until its final report. JAC should have a safer environment in place for all students in such cases. In the end no student should be afraid to attend JAC. These situations should never occur in our public schooling environment and shouldn't be tolerated. If these acts can occur in public washrooms the safety of the students are at stake.

This needs to be fully investigated .. Are the police protecting a prominent familys son or a son of a fellow police officer??
No means NO regardless of what ever happened between those 2 before.

One cannot determine what happened beyond the view of the cameras, based on the fact that there was friendly behaviour ON camera. It's 100% plausible that a person could be friendly and even flirting and NOT be ready or willing to consent to sexual activities. Even if a person BEGINS to engage in sexual relations - if they say no at any point, that means STOP. It is not a difficult concept.
There should at least be a formal investigation - not an automatic dismissal.

Not one of us knows what exactly happened, but it would seem that further investigation may be required.

As a parent who had a daughter attend this institute and who myself attended the college I find the attitude of both the police and the school administrators abhorrent. The person who did this should be expelled from the college and get a police record.

I cannot believe how badly this young woman is being treated. Just because she was being friendly to him does not mean she"enjoyed" being sexually assaulted. The police should re-open the case with independent investigators.

Sexual assault victims do not 'ask for it'. Sexual assault victims do not 'enjoy it'. Sexual assault victims are not to be blamed for their attackers' behaviour. This case should have been better handled, and the victim should have been treated with more respect. I am appalled that this is how our city is handling a sexual assault case.

Its hard enough for a person to gather the courage to tell someone they were sexually abused...I couldn't imagine what it would feel like to be ignored and shamed. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE...TAKE SEXUAL ASSAULT SERIOUSLY!! #nomeansno

As an alumna of John Abbott College, I am disappointed and embarrassed by the school's/police's decision to disregard this woman's complaint until there has been a full investigation. Do better!

It saddens me greatly that the assault occurred. It is even more heartbreaking that the accusation was not taken seriously, and that supports were not provided for the victim.

The way the situation is handled is deplorable and ridiculous. The young woman has the courage to speak up after being assaulted and she gets blamed for it.
John Abbott College administration, I ask you as a mother of a JAC student and teacher in this province that you must make this situation right!
The alleged perpetrator can not go back to the school until FULLY investigated and the victim is the one who should feel safe.

It is outrageous that to say she enjoyed it just by looking at a video of her and him interacting prior to the attack. Are all female students supposed to be unpleasant to all male students just in case they have bad intentions????

The Investigation team should be gathering the information the case and not be the ones who judge it. A report definitely needs to be filed and handled appropriated.
