The fact that we have to sign a petition ... says it all. Let's get this change happening.

Absolutely disgusting and unjust. It just goes to show you of the certain agendas the police are conveying to the public. They ask to be respected and listened to. However when the cards are turned; they snub their noses and pick and choose what cases deem fit for them and ridicule or completely ignore the important ones. The victim will see justice and the perpetrators name and actions will come to light.
Montréal take charge of your city and re-open this case. Don't allow yourself as a city to be shamed in front of the media. With this petition and Montreal being a very popular city it won't be long before it will make National news. The family and friends of the victim will not back down until justice is served.

Sexual assault is not ok. This is should have never happened and since it did, it should have been handled properly.

I was sexually assaulted a few years back too. We need to make the world a safer place for women. Too many of us have stories like that.

You should be ashamed of the way you handled this assault charge. How would you feel if this happened to your daughter?

What happened to the victim was bad and we have to raise our voice and fight against all the injustice that's been happening around us and we don't even know about.

This should absolutely be investigated fully..
A) why has the accused not been interviewed?
B) Why has the case been dependent just on video evidence?

We should do something about this now or else future cases such as this will also be thrown aside.

I am a sexual assault survivor myself and think that this is an extremely important issue that is to be taken seriously.

The police gathers, investigates based on the evidence Provided to them. They then pass to the prosecutor who makes the decision to go ahead with the charges or not.
Even though evidence was mostly washed by the victim but still they could've dragged the perpetrator Atleast try to gather substantial evidence instead of blaming the victim.

As a John Abbott alumni, I am truly saddened by the reaction of the college and the investigators involved. It is unacceptable for the case to be dismissed on such a technicality and I can only hope the victim finds some small comfort and reassurance in the collective outrage this petition shows.

From the Montreal Gazette: “ 'While the video does not show the assault, the police seem to base their decision on the images of "friendliness" between her and the student"
This is a very sick comment to make and the primary reason I sign today.
Every rape accusation should be taken seriously. What kind of message is the SPVM sending for other women who are abused, basing themselves on a video that happened BEFORE the incident that is silent and that was not shown to anyone else? What kind of subjective "amicability" can one base themselves on in that situation?
This is disgusting and my heart goes out to the victim and her family. The evidence seems quite strong that she was abused, with physical evidence. This investigation MUST go further as I am certain there were witnesses and other evidence that will solidify that this case was real in order for justice to be served.
