Joe was the longest-running human fixture in Times Square--from WWII until 2015. No one better represented show business, from the gloriously obscure to the elite, than Joe.

Joe Franklin embodied the passion, the wonder and the marvelous oddity of Times Square better than anyone except maybe Damon Runyan.

Joe Franklin's Memory Lane is the only name that should be there. He is New York City and this is his block.

If any person in the last part of the 20th Century deserved a street in NYC's Broadway theater district named for them, it would be Joe Franklin. He was a legend and an inspiration to anyone who loved show biz or had ambitions to trip the light fantastic.
