Source code to take native binaries in all platforms, and add new features like soundtrack play in mp3.

Just stumbled on this. Would be very awesome for the sake of preservation if the source-code for this game was released :)

Non-free software is the path to the dark side.

As a programmer who started out coding COG scripts all those years ago, this would be a dream come true. We've been waiting for this. Please make it happen.

We'd be able to do so much more, even though we've still managed to do so much this far through simple dedication alone. Allowing the long time fans to build with the bones will help keep the love of it alive for years to come.

To me, DF2: Jedi Knight remains the single greatest multi-player experience of my gaming career. No other game has been able to create the same level of community, drama, and competition. It is a game that I currently have installed on my computer despite being 18 years old. In fact it is a game that I still play occasionally with players I met all those years ago. The problem is that my machine is too much for JK. I can't use 3d acceleration (so it looks worse than it did in 1998) and the timing of the graphics are off unless I mess with my registry. The result is playable, but barely. This game continues to have a following, but we need access to the source code to be able to adapt the game to present day tech. Please consider this petition. We are experiencing an interesting phenomenon. Games are becoming so old to the point that they are unplayable. By releasing the source code, you have a chance to help set the industry's response to this dilemma.

This engine had amazing implementations for 1997 and a source port is extremely desirable for this game.

I’ve heard around the internet that the source code is lost (in which case this petition has absolutely zero value). Any idea whether they HAVE it to release?
