He did a stupid thing, but let's not let a moment of bad judgment ruin his life.

Drop the charges on Jimmy Gaines....

I know the details. He said, "I guess I will go back to Southern and try to pick up my transcript and strap a bomb on me." How is that not a threat? Even if he apologized in the next email, he still broke the law. He belongs in prison.

"'Knowingly' means that a person acts knowingly with respect to the conduct or to circumstances surrounding the conduct when the person is aware of the nature of the conduct or that the circumstances exist. A person acts knowingly with respect to a result of the person's conduct when the person is aware that the conduct is reasonably certain to cause the result" He knew it because he said he knew he shouldn't say things like that. I can't believe you guys would even defend this jerk.

I've known Jimmy and his brother for the past 10+ years. This guy is the furthest thing from a threat to anyone. He is gentle and kindhearted. He does not deserve to be made a spectacle over something so blatantly benign. What's next, murder conspiracy charges for the wife who playfully tells her husband "I'm gonna kill you" when he spills something on her freshly mopped floor? I am praying common sense wins out in this case! God is with you Jimmy!

I pray that these people will stop this wrong doing. But, I also know it is going to get worse and they will think they are doing the right thing. Jimmy, don't give up! Trust the Lord!

I had an entire semester of course work disapear when I transfered from Southern and I didn't even owe them anything. His frustration was valid and communicated in an innocent way. Jeez...so much parinoia.

He does not deserve to go to jail.

I fail to see how anything would be gained by putting Jimmy in jail for 3 years! He was a kid who made a mistake. A LOT more will be gained by allowing him to finish his education and become a useful citizen of our country! Come on America. Stop the knee jerk retains.

I think someone in Hamilton County needs to spend time arresting TRUE criminals!!!

As a Southern student, I can really sympathize with Jimmy's frustration. Many Southern students, myself included, have probably said worse things. Jimmy doesn't deserve any more punishment then the rest of the frustrated students of SAU.

Yes we have to be careful these days but lets not blow this out of proportion

He deserves a 2nd chance :) i'm sure he has learned the lesson at this point. He's got his whole life infront of him. Jail ruins people!!!

Please consider not continuing prosecution against Jimmy Gaines. He made an ill-advised statement in frustration, but did not make any kind of false report thinking that anyone would take him seriously. He even apologized to the person he was talking to, so she would know he was not serious. The FBI realized very quickly that this was enormous misunderstanding, can't you also see that? I'm very sorry that Hamilton County spent so much money playing with its shiny Homeland Security toys, but it was a ridiculous overreaction to a non-threat. Don't ruin this poor guy's life.

Come on, Hamilton County, let's not be ridiculous!
