My dad knew Jimmy really well and he always asks after me. A true gentleman who appears to be Blackpool through and through. Do not forget Ann, his wife, a dedicated nurse and supporter.

If anyone deserves such recognition, it is Sir Jimmy Armfield. I cannot think of anyone tore deserving of knighthood within the game of football.

Undersung Hero of the community, not indifferent to the late Sir Tom Finney. Much respected by all.

Be a well deserved tribute to a living legend of not only Blackpool FC but the much wider football community.a much trusted advisor of many football people and organisations including the FA. His charity work goes under the radar as he is far too humble to tell everyone what he does. Jimmy your a star and definitely Sir Jimmy to all us seasiders who respect you always.

A gentleman and credit to society. If given this award would be richly deserved.

Mr Armfield's achievements in football playing, managing, for the FA and in broadcasting justifies a knighthood alone. A one club man who was once classified as the best right back in the world at his peak and an international who captained his country. He has done far more than many in football who have already got knighthoods. And even more so when one adds his work for the local communities Blackpool and in Lancashire

I have thought for a long time that the great gentleman Jimmy Armfield should be a Sir a one club man who captained England on several occasions managed Leeds Utd and is still a top pundit and a ambassador of the club.

"Sir" Jimmy the then England Captain used to come to my junior school on a regular basis to help out with our football and at one stage even helped out doing some proper teaching in classrooms. He also used to come to my local church youth club and was the most polite ,encouraging , and friendly person you could ever wish to meet.Outside of football his charity, church and other work is impossible to catalogue as he involved himself in helping the local and wider community over so many years. If ever anyone deserves a knighthood it is he so come on your majesty and your politicians do the right thing!!
