The school board just voted to name the field after Jimmy. It is finally happening and our town will never forget his sacrifice. Thank you for helping me bring my friend home in this way.

Final supporters
The family & friends of WO1 James B Low, and the Beaver High School class of 1969 propose that the Beaver High School football field be named in honor of Beaver Utah’s fallen hero...19 year old Jimmy Low.
Jimmy played football for BHS all 4 years of high school. He also served as class president. After graduation, Jimmy volunteered for the US Army, knowing he would be sent to fight in Vietnam. On March 31, 1971 (3 months after arriving in Vietnam), the helicopter Jimmy was co-piloting was shot down in Laos. He was burned over 70% of his body. He died 3 days later.
Jimmy was the only person from Beaver that didn’t make it back home from Vietnam.
Jimmy Low Field would be a tribute to one of Beaver’s greatest sons, but it would also serve as a reminder to everyone who lives in & visits Beaver that a great sacrifice was made on their behalf by one of their own.
The signatures collected will be taken to the High School & School Board to show that this community is willing to name the field to honor Jimmy. The field currently has no name. Please make sure your name shows up on the petition. Some people have said it’s taken a couple times.

I have been going through the comments left here and seeing how many people still remember Jimmy from those days on the field. Hearing your stories about his time as class president reminds me why this honor is so long overdue. I am preparing to present these names to the school board so they understand exactly how much this means to our town.

Having heard stories about this amazing man for the last 17 years, I feel like I’ve known Jimmy my entire life. As a fellow combat veteran, I feel the utmost love and gratitude for the ability to walk in the footsteps of great men like Jimmy Low. Forever young.
Went to school with Jim he was such a great caring guy that was such a lot of fun to be around. I think renaming this field after him is a well deserved tribute.
My great uncle Jimmy Low played on that field all through high school, and died as an American war hero. So if this field should be named after anyone, I think it should be named after a war hero.
Football fields and battlefields are both about dedication and sacrifice. Jimmy Low learned that first at Beaver High and that needs to be remembered.
I served with Jim in Vietnam. It would be a fitting gesture to dedicate this field in Jim’s name. He gave everything for this country and we should never forget his sacrifice.

I don't have any contact with Beaver, UT except for driving through on the way to Las Vegas. But I am of the Vietnam era and knew a couple of men who didn't make it home. This is a great memorial!
