It is time for the Jewish community to play it’s part in the refugee crisis

Of course we must help I am ashamed this country has not done so already.

I wholeheartedly support all the commments made in this petition. Let us not be ashamed nor behave like some other European neighbours.

If Britain had not let my refugee grandparents to come here, I would have perished with my Polish baby cousin .Time to act, and help these refugees.

James Parkes asked for the British government in 1943 to let as many Jewish refugees into this country as possible - even if there were 3 million of them. We should do the same now. there is no excuse

I agree with the Chief Rabbi speaking on Today this morning.

We also need to address the causes of the refugee crisis and NOT turn our backs after receiving the present wave. How many of the 6 million might have been spared had we acted against the regime that necessitated the Kindertransport. A bit like giving paracetamol for a headache caused by a brain tumour.

With 60+ million inhabitants and only 10% of the country occupied by cities/towns/villages, we have the space to accommodate 10s of thousands of refugees. With one of the biggest economies in the world and the biggest financial hub, we can certainly afford to accommodate refugees. There really isn't any excuse not to extend a helping hand and welcome as many refugees as we can.

Jewish leaders have exceptional moral authority in the public eye and need to be using this to support the cause of refugees.

WE KNOW WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE REFUGEES GIVE OTHER PEOPLE A CHANCE TO MAKE A GOOD LIFE IN ENGLAND JUST AS MANY JEWS DID IN EARLIER TIMES

We need big solutions AND practical grass roots action. The problem is geo political, the victims are individual men, women and children. The Progressive Jewish community can help!

I am the son and son-in-law of refugees. Some of my family were rescued. Others were burned. I am ashamed to be a citizen of a Britain with so short a collective and political memory.

We should know .

Absolutely the community needs to step up! At a minimum, how about a Kindertransport #2 for Syrian children.....and we all need to sign any similar petitions from the wider community as they arrive!

We need to bear in mind the parallels and to offer hospitality, as Jews were offered hospitality here. Opening our doors can only benefit all of us individually and communally. No one owns this country. It is part of the world, for everyone.

It is time for us to show solidarity with genuine refugees who are fleeing for their lives from war and oppression.

No Borders! No one is illegal! We live in one world and it belongs to all of us.
