It is time for the Jewish community to play it’s part in the refugee crisis

“Share your bread with the hungry, provide shelter for the destitute, and clothe the naked.” (Isaiah 58:7)

Obviously have to sign when both parents were refugees. Public forget the 20,000 who came on domestic service visa including my mother and two of my father's cousins. My mother's parents were also left behind and perished

We must never forget our past.

But do not exclude parents as the Kindertransports did - this is inhumane.

refugees need safe havens - whatever their age

same story, different people. People are people. Period.

We have to help these people!!

I think that we have a moral duty to help.

We all have to do something to help. As Jews who come from refugee backgrounds we have a duty to help our fellow human beings in crisis.

And let us open our hearts, our homes and our community buildings to welcome these people as our ancestors were welcomed here.

We also need to deal with the cause of the refugee crisis not just the symptoms

If not now, when?

Im ein ani li, mi li? U'ch'she ani l'atzmi, ma anochi? V'im lo achshav, eimatai? "For you yourselves were strangers in the Land of Egypt"

we were once these refugees looking for a home and help. Let this never happen again to our people but let us never forget and help those in a similar terrible plight.

we need more support

It is incumbent on all of us to do what we can to help - or we're all guilty; we're all bystanders.

Great to hear the Chief Rabbi on the radio today saying exactly this! Regardless of the medium and long term solutions, there is a humanitarian crisis going on now and a short term response to help those in need is required every day spent discussing is more lost lives.

How about collecting coats and sending them where needed? It is going to get cold and the refugees do not have coats
