How can this be best practice? This is wrong on so many levels. What needs to happen in order for our WCSD children not to be shuffled around?

Hunter Lake is having this same issue. 1 allocation loss is impacting over 60 students! Class sizes going from 15 to 24 in 2nd grade and 3rd graders are getting their third teacher in 7 weeks!

I have taught in 2 other districts besides washoe! They seemed to have figured out a better way to manage student numbers! Washoe get your stuff together! You are only hurting the kids

Schools all over the district are dealing with this same issue. I have 34 students and my partner has 35 because we were 2 away from getting another allocation. We have to rethink the timing of these reshuffle choices and truly think about what can go so good teachers can be added and kept to teach our children.

This is so wrong. Most times it is just 1 or 2 students short. Pull a teacher and class size increases. 2 days later new students enroll. Stupid!! So unnecessary

This decision is clearly not in the best interest of the students. Good for Ms Oliphant and the Jesse Beck community for being so vocal about this particular situation. I cringe at the thought of all the fabulous teachers, students and families who have suffered the same fate but without the public attention. I can’t think of a single person who benefits from this particular decision.

My family has experienced these same allocation for over four consecutive years. I agree, WCSD must do something to address this issue. Waiting six weeks into the school year creates a hardship for the family, students, and teachers, respectfully! The policy and procedures encompassing this process needs to be reviewed, scrutinized, and addressed. There has to be a better solution. The current process is extremely disruptive and troublesome . This administrative process has serious negative implications on the students and teachers. I understand that WCSD has fiduciary responsibility that's driving this practice, however; there's a reasonable and acceptable alternative solution....it just needs to be discussed and implemented. How do similar school districts address and handle this same issue? Is WCSD following "best practices"?

It sounds like Mrs. O is an incredible teacher who has made a huge impact on the lives of her students. I have to believe that there is a better way to navigate through this process and land at the "correct" number of teachers. What is the cost of this policy in terms of talent retention?
