This petition is to show support for naming the disc golf course at Roscoe-Ewing and Sam Masi Parks in Medina, Ohio after Leroy Jenkins. Leroy was passionate about disc golf, a passion he shared with his family and the whole disc golf community, Leroy worked for the Medina Water Department but people would think he worked for the park department for all of the time he and his family spent maintaining the disc golf course at Roscoe-Ewing Park. When some of the holes were eliminated, Leroy was instrumental in expanding the course into the adjacent Sam Masi Park.

The signatures below are from people who support the idea of naming the disc golf course in Roscoe-Ewing and Sam Masi Parks after Leroy Jenkins in honor of all of the contributions that he made to disc golf and the Medina community. The park names would still remain the same.

We are approaching the one thousand signature mark and need a final surge to force the board to take us seriously. Post the link on Facebook right now and text three friends who play at these parks to get them on board.

June 12, 2023

I am currently coordinating with the parks department to secure a formal meeting time to present these names. Please call the parks director today to express why this dedication is necessary for our community. Your direct outreach is the only way to ensure this proposal moves to the next stage.

Leroy and his family were the signature family in disc golf’s beginning, and with Roscoe Ewing park being the first course in ohio and one of the oldest courses in the United States, it’s very reasonable to have a course he helped design named in his honor

Leroy was and the Jenkins family are the ones who got THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of people involved in the sport of Disc Golf and this would be a lasting way to honor him and the family for all they have done. Keith Johnson #10444

I met Leroy at the 2012 PDGA world championship in charlotte through a mutual friend that is also from Medina. Leroy was a class act guy super friendly to me and great ambassador to the sport of disc golf.

No other man in medina disc golf history deserves this more! Roscoe probably would not be there anymore if not for his efforts as a volunteer. I'm proud to have known and worked with him for years!

I was born in Cleveland a few weeks before Leroy. We always had a $1 a round side wager when we played at several Worlds. Miss the big guy with a big heart and his service to the sport he loved.

Leroy is an absolute legend in the disc golf community and every-time I played that course he was out there working on it. Not to mention he raised a family of disc golf world champions on that very course
