I am a teacher for JCPS. I plan and prepare over the summer. We need more time to plan with our GCC and PLC prior to school starting. I recommended that the start date be moved to later in August as well if not
September!

The time we have as a family in the warm months is crucial. School used to start in September. Stop trying to undermine the importance of the family unit for the sake of money.

I agree that August 10 is way to early to start school. It is actually ridiculous. By the time they get out for summer break, they won't even get 2 full months off and they deserve it. Also for working parents, it is easier to be off or get help with childcare all at the same time rather than all these sporadic off days in between. Also starting school back that early results in more absences due to family vacations and the state fair. It is not a good idea to start until the end of august. Let kids enjoy the summer.

school should start after Labor Day & end before Memorial Day. They should be in school during the school year having a Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break & Federal Holidays off w/teachers in-school service days, professional days etc during the summer. Bring back summer time, kids w/summer jobs & it'll help KY's tourism!!!!

This is just absolutely crazy! Let our kids enjoy their summers! School just keeps starting earlier & earlier and I for one, am sick of it!
