The JCPS school year should start after labor day and let out before memorial day...let the children enjoy a full summer.

This early start makes it hard to visit our family that does not live in ky, we would only share 4 weeks of summer. Cutting out vital home experiences from our children.

Education should be about quality and not quantity! What happened to going back after Labor Day and being done by Memorial Day? Out kids already have a ton of pressure and responsibility on their shoulders! Let them be kids! Let the teachers teach the way our kids learn! They already have a shorter summer and they are stuck doing summer homework as it is! These kids will be burnt out before they even get to college!!

This is ridiculous!! If they didn't feel we need so many in service days and days off for thing that don't need a day off ( oaks day, Oct 2 &5 ) I mean really when I was in school we didn't get near the amount of days off that the kids do now . They need to do more of the in service days during the summer.

Starting school that early is ridiculous! They need to move start date back to Labor Day and out by Memorial Day like is was years ago. There was nothing wrong with it then and there wouldn't be nothing wrong now. We will have snow days and that takes away summer time. Kids deserve the break and family time! Teachers also deserve the break and family time.
