It's ridiculous how long these kids are in school. Especially since the schools aren't disciplining the students who disrupt the entire day with their behavior without consequence. I am on the verge of finding another job to send my son to private school where he will be safe since jcps can't do it and them wants me to send my son in for additional days of unprotected bullying

It is not too early. Kids in class in June is a health hazard. Many years ago the protested time frame was the norm. I'm glad for once they are doing something good. For all that are angry, try the year round calendar. Then, how angry are you?

I understand that school is the most important thing for my child as a student to get the best education possible! But I love having my child at home and doing family activities also, so yes I think August 10th is way too early! School usually starts right after Labor Day and ends in may!

I totally disagree!!!!! That is way to early, I also think that school should not start till after the Ky state fair is over like it used to be AT THE VERY END OF AUGUST!!

I remember when I was a kid we didn't start school until after labor day! Its already early enough..why keep cutting their break short and this is coming from a straight A parent!

Its too early. I thought the state and the schools were working on a different schedule because the state fair and surrounding businesses was losing a lot of money due to the incompatibility of the dates.

After the fair. The earliest the last week in Aug. I say Labor Day to Memorial Day, If they can't learn it then, then they are not going to learn it. When I was in school in the 60's we were allowed three snow days with out making them up. I don't believe we came out stupid.

School used to not start untill after the fair, Thats my first point .my second point is i have drive a school bus and it about 10 to 15 degree hoter on that bus. Just start School after Labor day the weather is so much better the kids don't complain as much which might make alot of the bus drivers a whole lot happier, then so what if they have to go until the middle of june

My kids will be missing some days because I'll take them out a week . Our families live out of state & we go to the Mountains every year & we book our room the same time every year . Family time is important too !!!
