Why is 285 north of Carlsbad a 4 lane yet where all the traffic going south it becomes 2 lanes? Always baffles me

As a former 911 Dispatcher for Reeves County. I have received countless calls of veh driving complaints as well as traffic accidents that sadly resulted with lives lost. Please consider making Hwy 285 4 lanes and keep all out Texas drivers safe.

My best friends father was killed on this highway right before her 18th birthday, I couldn't imagine how hard it was for her and I don't want more people to have to continue going through this pain.

Not only to make it for lane but to put more cops, high way patrol mens out there. To many careless people.

Oil companies need to invest in the restructuring of all the roads they're travelling in SE New Mexico. 285, 62/180, Jal Hwy, Old Refinery Rd, and the Eunice cut-off are all travelled by more oil field traffic than can be feasibly handled. The deaths are ridiculous.

Probably named 285 because thats how many lose their life yearly on this road.
