The base and training facilities around it are critical to preparing vital forces to defend our nation. Locally, the base and those who work on it are part of the social, educational and fiscal fabric of this great community. The financial contribution alone ($1.2 billion annually) makes it the leading employer in the area.

Having served in the USN, and USNR, for approximately 29 years, I fully under the vital importance of the Naval Air Station Whidbey. The training opportunities it's presence provides to the carrier based flight crews, is without parallel.
