I Support NAS Whidbey Island

I am the wife of a retired CPO & have been married to the military life 50 years & lived in Oak Harbor WA., home of NAS Whidbey Island since 1969. I know the people & the town well. So please understand a fact that I'm sharing with you. The small group that is making a lot of noise is exactly that. A "small group". This is a perfect example of a minority making a lot of noise in an attempt to appear as a majority. Please know that the "majority" of this town is totally on board with our great US Navy being stationed here on Whidbey. The Majority supports NAS Whidbey all the way!

We are owners of a restaurant and see our Navy folks every day. They make us so proud and we want the best for them.

Whidbey Island has the advantage of weather conditions highly favorable for NAS Whidbey's operations, thus assuring efficiency and capability to carry out their mission.

Born at NAS Whidbey, raise on the island. My dad retired there and still lives there. We need to keep the base going. If people don't like the noise, moved away!!

As retired military who chose Whidbey Island, we love the vibrant community bolstered by the Navy presence. The training is invaluable in the fight against terror. Around here we say WE LOVE JET NOISE!

They fly over our heads and sometimes spook the dogs but we appreciate the freedom they ring.

Whidbey Island needs the economic support that NAS Whidbey Island brings to the community!

I support great training opportunities for our brave military pilots.

At a time that we acknowledge our defenses are low...we need now, more than ever a powerful Navy to demonstrate to the World. "Talk softly, but carry a big stick."

Then Navy has been an excellent partner for our city. All Navy personnel and their families are wonderful people! They need to stay and grow!!

This base is vital to the training and support of forces vital to the survival of the fleet and combined arms in hostile conditions around the world. I fully support its mission and continued growth and modernization. An important tool in the maintenance of our freedom, and I welcome it into our community.

This base and its several thousand employees are a primary asset for both the community and the economy of our area.

I'm proud of our service men, I will always support them.

I support the men and women of NASWI and their families. Base personnel provide countless hours of community service to schools and local organizations helping to make this the great community that it is. I have lived near the base for 25+ years and have always enjoyed the sound of jets flying. I am proud to live with those sounds. Those planes play an integral part in keeping safe other aircraft in combat as well as ground crews. Training at OLF and Ault Field is vital to their mission and to keep crews safe. This base has been and will, I’m sure, remain committed to being a community partner and a good neighbor to this town and to our Northwest region. NASWI brings over a billion dollars in economic impact to Whidbey Island and NW Washington. Both Wings at the NAS play important roles in keeping open and safe the maritime shipping lanes of the Pacific Ocean. This island, this state, and our country needs this base and those planes right where they are.
