For a college that stresses it's commitment to diversity on all of its advertisements, this comes as an astonishing hypocrisy. Is Lafayette only committed to diversity when it can be exploited for advertising purposes? Put your money where your mouth is.

Some of the closest friends I have made here at Lafayette are Posse scholars. They never fail to brighten my day or give me a different perspective on life. That is why I feel Posse is such an essential part of Lafayette, while becoming need-blind would be a fantastic move for the college, if we really want to market ourselves as a bastion of liberal education, programs like Posse should receive our absolute support.

I firmly believe that the Posse Program is ding all that it can to enable colleges such as Lafayette and other colleges around America to have individuals make a positive difference upon their campus.

To cut ties with Posse would be an embarrassment to Lafayette and all who have graduated or will graduate from it. To listen to the voices of these students would be a vital step toward becoming the could-be great institution it ought to be.

My most powerful, passionate, and compassionate peers are posse choosy students. I can't express personally the importance of edifying their lives through higher education at your university but at my own, for myself and my peers, this program along with other scholarships are essential to improving our country at every level. For whatever reason you assume it is necessary to discontinue funding your program, the least you should do is reevaluate your reasoning with due consideration for the potential loss to society.

I believe that changes can be made to the system without being at the expense of Posse, which does so much more for its students than just providing a financial aid opportunity.

By cutting funding to posse Lafayette is effectively saying that students with greater needs don't matter as much as students that can afford higher education. Lafayette needs to broaden its mindset about the students they have on campus in order to ensure that college is a place where you learn not just academics, but about the different cultures and backgrounds that people come from. Posse students play an important role in campus life and should be treated as such.
