Encourage the young people to choose to study in your 6th form. Incentives such as freedom to express their maturity in clothes they wear means alot to them. Celebrate their next step rather than treat them as children and they will respond well. You will see a rise in young people opting for college instead of 6th form if you continue treating them as children. They have taken another atep into adulthood. Please recognise it instead of denying it.

The fact my sister was singled out and forced to go home despite multiple other pupils breaching the rules meaning she missed time out of school because apparently wearing vans trainers is such a distraction that teachers need to waste their time enforcing such a stupid guidelines. I graduated from this schools sixth form with 3 a levels and the old policy worked fine and we never had any issues around wearing our clothes. It's sad that such a good school that allowed me to pursue a undergrad education and supported me with my Asperger syndrome has subjected my sister and others to silly rules that haven't improved her learning but worsened it by forcing her to go home instead of gaining an education she has volunteered to pursue.

This is very off putting for my Daughters future, and as a Businessman I don’t understand your phrase of ‘Getting ready for work’ in year 12 when year 13 don’t have this?????

The dress code gives off the impression that the school and the leadership team care more about the appearance of the school and how others perceive it rather than how their students actually feel day to day and how happy and comfortable the environment they are providing is . School is stressful enough without adding on extra stress of finding outfits that adhere to a code that doesn't make sense.

To be perfectly honest, I would really like my son to come into school with a more lenient uniform, strictly because it was his choice to stay on at CHS 6th Form and from this it would be appropriate if he wore a less strict dress code, perhaps other students can focus more in comfortable clothing

Whilst I do believe in the 6th formers being allowed dress freely there is a somewhat dichotomy where the school insisted on blazers costing £50 after 3 unifirm changes so the pupils looked smart. However in the 6th form that goes out of the window.
Anything goes.
When I saw a boy wearing pyjama shorts hanging down his backside with a tatty top and boots with laces undone at Overleigh roundabout i was slightly appalled he was even allowed to attend school.
The headteacher is a hypocrit and if he should ensure the 6th formers maintain the sane dress standards that he expects fromthe other pupils.

6th Form is supposed to be preparation for University or work. If students go into the world of work, give them two years to dress, within reason, as they want. If they’re off to University, they’ll dress anywhich way. Let them grow up!

Really? Why is there any dress code for 16+? They need to feel comfortable and confident to express themselves with their clothes and identity in a safe environment in preparation for the next phase of their lives. They've already had 10 years of uniform...give them a break!
