The Diphalana Continuing Education Project Evaluation Report (2001) is relevant to reflect upon at this juncture. The report made recommendations of a socio-legal nature that would ensure sufficient deterrence against child and school-girl pregnancies. In addressing some of the identified challenges for example, it was recommended that in addition to existing legal provisions, the law should impose an obligation on parents or guardians to report suspected cases of defilement. It was also evident that there was a need to engage the courts to sensitise them against their predilection to impose the lightest sentences on offenders whereas the law provides for a more severe penalty, which at that time was purpoted to be life imprisonment.

everyone involved must not just show remorse but must be punished severely. This is the worst crime against humanity and it has gone on or too long. It's easy go itatola to the general public but what does your conscience tell you, that is if you have one.

Hold a march in solidarity with this cause. Huge banners, lots of shouting, demanding the handing down of justice and the end of protection given to government officials who have committed heinous crimes! If I was living in Botswana, I would definitely join in!
