The water available in the City of Ironwood comes at a high cost and is of a poor quality. I understand it is a difficult situation with a declining population, tax base, and aging infrastructure for a larger population of a different era. I own a home in the City of Ironwood thus, as a tax payer and water consumer, have a vested interest in the City addressing this issue.

We have many, and very lengthy, comments about different instances regarding the City if Ironwood's water department and the quality of our water. I could sit here all day and text document our experiences but I believe our "stories" are best relayed in person. Plus I don't have the time for that large of a text document. I'm a busy person but we would love to share our experiences in person if someone needs/wants to listen!

I have lived here for almost 13 years. I have witnessed the water quality decline very quickly as our rates slowly crept higher and higher. The city claimed the reason for these rate increases were to "cover the replacement of water lines. Those lines are over 100 years old." -Bob Tervonen
Our water is running through miles and miles of dirt, debris, and rusted, corroded metal before it finally reches our homes. Cancer stats are high in our small community. Mental health stats are through the roof. People are ill. Our young men are balding early. Health officials test the water quality at the plant. Not the water quality that comes into our homes and is actually being consumed. It's certainly long over due for us to stand up and advocate for our rights to safe, clean water in our city. The betterment of the future of this community needs to be put on a backburner until the betterment of THE PRESENT is met. Do you HEAR us now?

I understand that water management is no easy feat. However, I feel taken advantage of due to Ironwood City water being regularly light brown, musky, dark dark brown, smelling and tasting like pool water due to the high amounts of chlorine and smelling like bad marijuana. I have seen this city water ruin the pipes in houses that I have rented, and have seen the water eat pinholes into faucets in other rentals that I have been at. In-line filters are consumed at a much faster rate than they should be and it is completely unacceptable that there are days when my family is forced to rely upon store bought water when we are forced to pay so much for our city water already.
As a resident of Ironwood, as a tax payer, and as a customer , I demand clean water for Ironwood, Ironwood Township and Hurley!

I grew up in Ironwood Michigan and this happened a lot at my family home, turn on the faucet to see orange/brown water, I am talking as early as the 60's and into the 70's and 80's.

I grew up in Michigan and now live in Texas. The fee to open my account was $100 and my monthly bills for water and sewage average $50. We also get clean, high-quality water. What you are doing to the residents in Ironwood is criminal. No wonder nobody wants to stay or move in. These people deserve better than this.

I'm signing this as it is my hometown and my daughter,grandson and great grandson still live there. As do many of my relatives. I can't believe how horrible the water is and just seems to get worse everytime I visit. The cost is also ridiculous ! For water that you can't even use! Unacceptable!
