Dorothy Kim is an important and innovative scholar, and I support her. The attacks on her are disgusting––and I hope more people in academia become aware of them and condemn them.

Dr. Kim's voice has been influential in the revision of my syllabi to become more inclusive of medieval POC and less focused on white contributions to history. This is the future of our discipline.

I am sickened and appalled at the treatment of Dorothy Kim and urge everyone in our community to sign this petition

I stand with Dorothy Kim: I am an ECR, and someone who believes that we academics need to use our knowledge to champion equality and undermine intolerance whenever/wherever we see it. Reach down to pull up, not punch down to knock out.

Rachel Fulton Brown is not an honorable academic. Her diatribe is shameful. I support Dorothy Kim.

Very sad to see my hero Will Langland connected, however remotely, to this controversy. Reading VPP as a non-academic enthusiast I can see that a link might be made by illustrating right and wrong from present day examples. But surely a scholar would want to stick with the text and seek other outlets for moral debate.

Fulton Brown's writing is very unprofessional!

This attack is a disgrace.

As an Associate Professor of English specializing in a different discipline (comp/rhetoric), I admire and support Dr. Kim's public scholarship & the risks she's been willing to take to effect change.

As someone that, gasp, doesn't even have a passing interest in medieval Europe, Brown's argument is at times far-reaching and missing the mark. Medieval Europe was arguably made of diverse interactions, trade, and worship of the Eastern origins of Christianity, but what are the stewards of this scholarship teaching and how is it speaking to a larger audience, as well as responding to those groups that has co-opted an ahistorical battle cry? It's your job.

Dorothy goes above and beyond to engage and challenge our field and we are all the richer for it. I support her unequivocally.

As a graduate student, I support Professor Kim and believe academic institutions and societies must not be silent or neutral when professors are attacked unjustly.

Dorothy Kim has used her platform to improve medieval studies through advancing a critical dialogue about how race is handled in the field, while Brown has used her platform to make petty and unprofessional attacks that continue to provide cover for the white supremacists embedded in our field. I support Dorothy Kim and join this petition in denouncing the disgusting behavior of Rachel Fulton Brown.
