IPPS statement in support of Dorothy Kim

Dorothy Kim's work is deeply important and this recent attack is absolutely unacceptable.

Unprofessional bullying like this is absolutely unacceptable from a member of academia. That it led to Milo's supporters doxxing someone is also unacceptable. I stand with the Piers Plowman Society in condemning the racially inflammatory post and subsequent actions which have happened as a direct result of that post.

Academic bullying of scholars of color and untenured faculty is unacceptable!

Dr. Kim is a gifted critic of past and present historical trends, and to see one of her interests--mainly the Digital Humanities--turned against her in this way is horrible. Please praise her bravery for speaking out in public against hatred; don't punish her for her morality.

I'm an untenured professor of history and find this behavior appalling. Brown needs to apologize for the unprofessional and frankly racist writing and the results it engendered.

Fulton's lack of humility should earn her professional reprimand; Kim's courage to speak against academic apathy should not garner bullying but deserves the support of all historians and academics with moral praxis.
