As a scholar in a related field with its own longstanding problems of racism (Classics), I strongly condemn these abusive attacks on a scholar and colleague whose work is essential to an improvement in our fields and our world.

Regardless of whether you agree with a scholar's political or scholarly positions, you do not attack them personally and invite them attention of the alt-right trolls. This amounts to a threat.

Fulton's blog post was unprofessional in the extreme, and should not be allowed to reflect our values as a discipline.

I am disheartened by Professor Rachel Fulton Brown's flawed and uncollegial attack on Professor Dorothy Kim. Professor Kim's work is important precisely because it makes some scholars uncomfortable by challenging complacency about the institutional racism baked into our disciplines. The proper response is to interrogate one's own inadvertent part in this and to think of ways to address the problem. I am dismayed that a senior scholar who should know better would sink to ad hominem attacks, doxxing, and tokenism. I stand with my colleagues in supporting Dr. Kim and her work.

Prof. Fulton-Brown has breached all norms of professional decorum in her latest set of attacks against fellow medievalist Dorothy Kim, which are not merely racially inflammatory but vulgar and beneath contempt.

Fulton Browns' comments only point up the need for the work in which Kim is engaged. There is no room in civil discourse or in the academy for this kind of race-baiting behavior.
