I just received word that Corporal Carpenter has been confirmed as our commencement speaker. This outcome belongs entirely to all of you who lent your names to this effort. I am still struggling to process the news because it honestly feels like a dream.

The student body and Gamecock community are honored to have such a hero among us and share our pride for our University. Kyle has represented the University of South Carolina as a shining example of what it means to be a selfless and bold hero. He makes us all proud to wear Garnet and Black and humble to have individuals like himself fighting for our freedom every day on the front lines.
There is no one more deserving to speak to this group of students about to face the unknowns of life outsides the walls of our beloved University. Kyle knows better than anyone what it takes to step up in the face of adversity.

I am truly overwhelmed by the way the community has rallied around the idea of having Kyle share his perspective with us. It feels like this has grown far beyond a small request and I am just doing my best to make sure the right people see your enthusiasm.

Honestly makes zero sense not to have him there. He is a real inspiration for all of us students and definitely more interesting than the usual politicians they drag out.
Kyle has already expressed interest in doing this via Twitter (for what that's worth) so I think it's just a matter of getting in touch with the right people at the university.
I feel having true heroes speak to graduates would be a wonderful way to remind them what is important.
NO ONE is more deserving. It would show us supporting our own, a fellow gamecock, along with the men and women of the armed forces.
This would be an amazing speech given by someone who deserves to be recognized! I don't want my graduation to turn out like the Joe Biden fiasco from this past year.
