I'm shocked that he would be let off so easily. And it's a felony to beat a dog! What the heck!

Seth Nelson should be charged with double vehicular manslaughter for killing the Amish guy and his son. We seem to see them ok.

i do believe craig lambert needs a drug test, also a state patrol officer to declare it would have happened regardless bust be incapable of doing his job functions correctly, both need a new line of work

If he wasn't drunk, he would have seen the wagon. If he doesn't get charged. You are saying its OK to get drunk and kill someone.. Come on , where is the justice in our system....

Drinking and driving? When did the rules change?

At least someone who was sober should have seen the wagon and 2 lives might have been saved.

the paper said that the Amish wagon didn't have the proper lights, give me a brake, he KILLED 2 PEOPLE, and he was DRUNK, and he gets off almost scott free, what's with this decision? He should get jail time and fines like other people who drove drunk and took 2 LIVES

As a fellow "farmer" it don't matter how it why it happened, his blood content was above legal limit that resulted in a accident where there were fatalities! He should be held accountable for his actions......not a slap on the hand! He killed two people with his vehicle, lock him up before he kills someone else's husband, wife and or child!!!!

I feel drinking impaired the driver from fully paying attention in this accident and it should be a factor in the two deaths of these Amish people. Once again someone is walking away with a slap on the wrist.

I don't agree with most of what Steve Abrahamson says, but on this subject, I do. Wood County is putting double standards on people taking lives while they are driving. Criminal charges should be brought against Nelson.

My question is what would his sentence have been if he had struck someone who wasn't Amish? There are many farmers in the area with hay wagons, etc. Some of them don't have lights either...just the reflective slow moving signs which any person under the influence probably wouldn't have seen. However, how do you know he would have stopped for lights? Two people are dead because he made the decision to drink and drive. He needs to face the same punishment anyone else would.

I drive back and forth from Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids every day during the week. In the winter, it's dark to and from work. I pass buggies daily. Some have lights, some just have the triangles. There have been many times that I see them just as I come up on them. This is while I'm sober. I see them because I'm alert and paying attention. Not only was this person proven to be intoxicated, he was also speeding. Two very major factors that played, in my opinion, a big role in this horrible event. I understand the whole "shadow of a doubt" thing...but with knowing the facts, I'm very disappointed that there wasn't at least more to the charge. There have been many "accidents" on the road that have resulted in death, whether it be road conditions, weather, or someone's view being unstructed, where the person wasn't charged. But...knowing the choice to speed and the choice to drink and drive are FACTS in this case...it's near impossible to be ok with this decision.
