We’ve heard the Randy Hoffman recordings. We’ve watched the exposes and heard the mayor admit to taking "CONsulting fees" from developers. Public records also show abuse of our tax dollars through the US Conference of Mayors trips. We’ve heard the mayor publically admit to taking his girlfriend on a trip to AZ calling it “training” and charging the citizens for his personal benefit. Public records show even more abuses. We are aware of the usurpation of Board powers under this administration. Thus, I kindly ask that the Board request a full investigation from the TBI to examine these matters and others stemming from 2004 to current date. Thank you.

How does one separate the duties of mayor versus those of that same individual as a private citizen? Certainly those duties performed during the hours when one is supposed to be performing the duties of a "full-time" mayor would suggest at the least that accepting a fee is malfeasance. If an individual wants to see a piece of property to acquire and calls the mayor, then obviously they are seeking information and/or influence beyond what one could obtain from a knowledgeable realtor. Right? But if it is legitimately an issue of needing a civil engineer, the question must be when is the Mayor free to conduct his own business when he is a full-time public servant? Did he ever vote on ANY zoning involving the people who hired him? Did he ever recuse himself from a vote? I believe there is too much stink coming from under the rock for their not to be a skunk in there.

This matter truly needs to be investigated. When I was serving my county on the County Commission we had a similar situation to arise. Many of the commissioners would not agree to the investigation. However, I said and always believed it was an opportunity for the accused to clear his name. I was one of the first ones to sign on. I didn't want the official to be guilty as personally I liked him and thought of him as a friend. The FBI was contacted. The official was found guilty and went to prison. There is much more to the story and it is something that lives in my heart and I know I did the right thing for the people that I represented.
