The suspects have been officially taken into custody and the legal process is finally moving forward. This exhaustion feels heavy but the justice served here provides a necessary measure of peace. We will keep watching to ensure the trial remains public and transparent.
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the Inspector General of Police of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Hafiz Ringim; The Abia State Governor, Dr Theodore Orji and his chief law officer,
Dear sirs,
The entire people of Nigeria petition you to look into the case of a Nigerian girl that was subjected to gang-raping by some Nigerian youth in Abia State. We believe that if this is left unpunished or handled shoddily, Nigerian women and girls will never feel safe again. We therefore, ask that you use your good offices to:
1. Investigate the gang-raping of a young Nigerian girl
2. Identify the culprits
3. Bring the culprits to justice speedily
4. Arrange appropriate professionals to counsel and rehabilitate this traumatised Nigerian girl.
5. We also ask that the punishment have equal weight to the trauma meted out to this Nigerian girl, to serve as a deterrent to all would be rapists.
Sirs, we need to feel that we are safe in our country to carry out our daily routines without fear of being raped. If these poor excuses of Nigerian youth are not searched out and punished, others would go on to suffer the same or similar ordeal.
Please note that this is not an allegation, the evidence is right here. We implore you to use the latest technology available to unmask these heartless fellows.

Yours Sincerely
The weight of this situation is heavy, yet the way you have gathered around this cause gives me a reason to keep fighting. Watching so many people refuse to look away tells me that justice is still a possibility worth chasing, no matter how long the road ahead feels.
