This is such an important issue and one the council and police should take very seriously. People deserve to feel protected and families deserve to know what has happened to their loved ones in tragic cases like Megan and Ben.

A railing along riverside walkways would have prevented this tragedy. During recent floods, the river at Lendal Bridge was at the same level as the path &, in the dark, no-one could see this.

While I am sorry Megan died it was not the rivers fault. If you respect the river and leave it alone it won't bite you. Let's start a petition to have it filled in while we are at it. One of the best things about york is access to the river.
