Install Traffic Light/Signal at Hayes and Octavia, Hayes Valley, San Francisco, CA

I have lived in San Francisco for a very long time, and the traffic, and careless drivers are on the rise. Uber and Lyft drivers who do not live in the city, but come here to make their money are irresponsible drivers to say the least. With Google buses, and all the extra cars on the road, we need prevention measures in our beloved city to prevent unnecessary accidents and fatalities.

Apparently the car sped up to get past the pedestrians, and puppy/dog, and this is how the puppy/dog was killed. Had the car waited patiently and let them cross the street this would have prevented the puppy/dog from being struck by the car, which ended the its life. Please support this petition for a much needed traffic light at Hayes and Octavia, San Francisco, CA.

From: Christine Harris August 6, 2016, about 3:30 PM, Saturday “I am at Hayes and Ovtavia as I write, and I have witnessed and video taped most drivers NOT stopping at the stop sign. I witnessed an elderly person try to cross the street and no cars stopped for him. I witnessed two dogs fight, both on leash. I have over ten videos just from about 30 minutes or less proving there needs to be a stoplight here. Based on my eye witness account and just this video footage, I am more determined to help curb the lack of respect for pedestrians. :(”

I will also add in my letter that if a traffic light/signal is a challenge, then for the city of San Francisco do to something to curb the traffic at the intersection of Hayes and Octavia, whether it is a pedestrian refugee island, a rotary traffic island, or simply closing off these streets to cars. I have lived in San Francisco for a long time and I have witnessed the change in traffic and drivers for some time now. Thank you. I am simply trying to make our city safer, and better. No ego is involved. I am always wanting to make a difference in the world, and making it a better place for all.

Anything Christine says should happen as far as I'm concerned!

Not only for dogs, we have witnessed many close call of small children coming close. This partition needs to be signed otherwise the life of children (and puppies) will be the cost.

This intersection has gotten more and more unsafe for pedestrians with or without pets over the last few years. I've almost gotten hit by cars several times by cars rolling through the stop signs. We need a light at that intersection!

Bambino was our puppy that was killed in the intersection. Please help make this intersection safer for everyone.

This is one of the most unsafe intersections in the city due to heavy pedestrian traffic causing confusion for drivers. Let's make sure this doesn't happen again.

Please. It's not safe for even humans. I drive and walk here every day and don't know who should go where. We lost our puppy and don't want to see any more Casualties
