Having had an accident on this zebra crossing myself as a pedestrian, I know firsthand how dangerous this crossing is

Remove the dangerous zebra crossing replace it with a pelican far too many people will end up dead or seriously injured if nothing is done about it.

I lived in Shaw for the majority of my life and this junction has always been a treacherous one, but now with the increase of heavy traffic feeding off the M62 into the town centre and the council's recent crossing patrol reviews as part of the ongoing austerity measures it goes some way to prove that road safety has been allowed to become lax and it is these poor unfortunate young girls have paid the price - one the ultimate price for some serious shortsightedness of the council and the road management team. These days the inner town centre is chaos at peak times and worry constantly over school children traversing the main roads from the local schools such as Royton & Crompton and Crompton House. A holistic and thorough road safety review is required now for the whole of Shaw before another poor unfortunate loses their life too soon.
