A pelican crossing should have been installed at the site after the last tragedy that happened here. My prayers are with the Holt family.

This junction is a nightmare, no traffic control whatsoever, nor any safety for pedestrians crossing the road. As proven again so sadly with another death!

This is a high density traffic area, particularly at school start and finishing times. The adjacent Linney Lane, Salt Street, Milnrow Rd and Edmund St. result in a highly hazardous zebra crossing on Crompton Way. It is imperative that a Pelican crossing is installed to prevent further tragedy.

Just to show how Oldham councils prorities are so bad when it comes to pedestrian crossings are, in recent years, on the A6104 Hollins Road, they have installed TWO puffin crossings, one near the junction with Withins Road and the other near the junction of Gee Lane.
These crossings are on a STRAIGHT part of the road.
NOT within the immediate vicinity of a school.
ASTONISHINGLY THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THEM IS 53 METRES.
why ?.

This horrid accident on the zebra crossing has nil to do with the standard of the crossing it self. I have just left my car driving after 30 years, for the last 6 months have been walking & from day one I noticed each time I got to a zebra crossing I took my life into my own hands. Only yesterday 3 steps onto the crossing (harefield high st) the car had to brake very hard to stop himself hitting me. This is no one off, in my six months of walking it happens every other day & each time the drivers just don't care & That's where the problem is....if anybody out there thinks I am wrong then use a zebra crossing a few times, stand & watch then u will see the sheer uncaring of most drivers.

Poorly lit roads need a proper crossing. Far too many lives are lost due to inadiquate crossings
