Drug addiction as well as mental illness is a disease and incarceration is NOT the place for a young man to be to get help or to heal. Is a huge injustice and desperately needs to be rectified.

I am going to sign this because I believe there is more a treatment facility can do than a prison for so many people who suffer from this type illness. I believe that often there is underlying illness in the way of depression and bi polar behavior. I also am signing this because my son's father went through something we will never understand or know the real reasons of his suicide, albiet in truth the "treatment" he received was some type of shot once a month that basically made him lethargic and too quiet. I think for him he realized at some point how his maniac bi polar ways of and his in and out of trouble with the law in harassment type charges had ruined his life... it is sad when an addiction adds to an already troubled mind. And society is messed up all around in ways of drugs and availability to where it is those who sell whom should do the hard time and those whom need help should get help.

Punishing someone for having a mental health symptom is like punishing someone for havING a heart attack in a cardiac ward. This is lack of training and resources and abuses those that need the services.

The system needs reformed when it comes to those with mental health issues. It is so wrong the way they treat the mentally ill.

We need better early intervention ID and techniques to give children the best opportunity to have effective, competitive lives which is challenging for any Special Needs child and impacts the family and community

Daniel has suffered too much and needs dual diagnosis help, a jail cell will not cure his mental illness.

I am a mother of a 23 year old son who is a severe addict. We have been through so much trying to find good care and treatment but it has not been easy. I agree our system needs to help these addicts who are very sick. Thank you for bringing awareness to our communities. I hope your son finds the help he and all addict need.

I am very tired of politics keeping our children safe. My son too was incarcerated for drug related crimes. In the process of these crimes he was seriously and permenantly injured by multiple gun shot wounds sustained from deputy sheriff. He now is in prison, given no medical treatments for his injuries and no help with the withdrawal of heroin. He is very sick and I have no say. I want change. I want treatment instead of prison. I want the stigma to end. I want my life back!

Maybe if your really lucky you will not have to deal with this situation or similar situations, but guaranteed it will surface in a loved one whether it be blood related or not. This is a crisis. Please, please, hear our prayer! Thank you!!

We want fair treatment. How can our families trust your facility with our loved ones when they do not receive quality care? Please reconsider having mentally ill patients arrested.

We must stand together and fight for the rights of our children. Lose the stigma of addiction and mental illness! Treatment not incarceration! Being an addict or having mental illness does not make you less of a human being!
