I believe that there is an opening for the university to be able to help financially aid its injured student athletes whom represent and expand the University’s image. As without the student athlete , the societies that provide so much towards the University’s image and funding would not be possible.

I am proposing that the University of Leeds in association with Leeds Sport set aside a sum of money that could be added to each year to help aid the student athlete.

It is my intention that a receipt based bursary could be created with the input of the student body by the University of Leeds and Leeds sport to financially support its student athletes in the unforeseen event of a sporting injury. Following an injury, student athletes will be able to apply for financial aid from the ‘Injured Gryphon Bursary’ to help with the costs associated with rehabilitation. Transport, prescription, relocation, living costs and private physio costs could all be aided with this bursary.

The extent of an injury exceeds so much more than the damage itself. This proposition put together by Laurence is exemplary and a phenomenal proposal on how the University and Leeds Sport can work together to financially support students after sustaining injuries. It’s great to see students suggesting ways in which we can support other sport enthusiasts. Thank you, Laurence.
