Infrastructure First, Broughton Astley Village

Infrustructure in B.A. is ancient and failing; exacerbate existing highway pedestrian safety and traffic issues; conflict wi National Planning Policy Framework and BA Neighbourhood plan and does not reflect the community views.

I object to this development as infrastructure issues such as; capacity at local GP surgery, traffic flow through the village, mitigation of existing flooding problems and lack of addional sewage capacity

This village is big enough. As stated, the infrastructure can't cope.

I strongly object to the proposed development at Frolesworth Road, Broughton Astley. This proposal represents yet another major housing development imposed on a village whose infrastructure is already under severe strain and operating beyond sustainable capacity. Broughton Astley has seen continual expansion in recent years, with further large-scale developments already proposed, including at the end of Crowfoot Way and other locations around the village. The cumulative impact of these developments appears to have been completely underestimated. This application cannot be viewed in isolation. The existing infrastructure in Broughton Astley is already failing to cope with the current population levels. Roads and TrafficTraffic congestion through the village is already severe at peak times, particularly around key junctions and routes including Frolesworth Road and through the village centre. Additional hundreds of homes will generate substantial extra vehicle movements every single day, significantly worsening congestion, delays, air pollution and road safety risks. The village is already used as a cut-through route by large volumes of HGV traffic, creating regular disruption, noise and safety concerns for residents. The local road network was never designed to accommodate this level of traffic, and there is no evidence that the surrounding infrastructure can safely absorb the increase that this development would create. Flooding and DrainageThere are longstanding concerns regarding flooding and drainage capacity in the area. Residents are already aware of issues relating to surface water, drainage and water management during periods of heavy rainfall. Covering significant areas of land with housing and hard surfaces will inevitably increase runoff and place further pressure on an already vulnerable drainage system. There are so many reasons why this proposed development should not proceed, including flooding from surface water, poor drainage, increase in traffic with the increased traffic only able to go into the village or into Leire or Frolesworth. Severe lack of appointments at the surgery, lack of places in the schools.

The road next to that site floods every year. Building there is wrong.

The proposed house construction on Frolesworth road and the fields surrounding the park Will flood existing houses and roads. My house is particularly at risk The park and surrounding fields already flood as does my garden and garage.

Resident for 20 years - no more houses please unless proper investment into infrastructure

This is a location that already sees lots of flooding and excess traffic, building another 500 houses or so on Frolesworth Road will only exacerbate these problems.

Stop destroying our villages

Permission should be denied for the development. The proposed development if permitted will have a devastating impact on the local area and community.

Too much traffic already for the road network. Sewerage system inadequate now and flooding a problem every winter.

Traffic in Frolesworth is already horrendous without extra vehicles heading this way. People don’t even adhere to the speed limit. Infrastructure needs to be in place before more housing is built.

These housing plans are just too risky for current homeowners and new ones alike. Even without the flooding risk, the road network is not fit for purpose.
