INDOT we need a stop light at 52 and 47 in Boone county

As Chief of Thorntown Police Dept I've responded to numerous crashes at US52/SR47, the intersection being the most dangerous in Boone county. Because the 47 traffic has a difficult time negotiating north and south bound traffic and the turn traffic. There are no lines or signs for how to turn on from 52 onto 47 when NB and SB 52 traffic are in the midsection at the same time sometimes with 47 traffic also in the midsection. Semis and farm equipment as well as oversize loads also must travel through there, their size alone means the must shut down traffic I'm both directions when crossing. The i65 detour has amplified these dangers

A stop light at SR 52 and SR 47 would save lives. One needs to be put in immediately as this intersection is now the detour route for I-65. A local mother and wife died needlessly 2 days ago. A stop light should be put in immediately, before more innocent lives are lost.

There are too many crashes here! I don't understand how you can say the crash data doesn't warrant one! People aren't slowing down to the slower speeds! Drivers get confused on how to use the median for turning!

If the sheriff thinks it is important then i would say its urgently needed.

This is not just about the deaths or accidents we have had at this intersection...how about all the close calls that have never been documented.? I myself have had a few close calls here. INDOT wake up!

If not stop lights, reconfigure the intersection so 47 is perpendicular to 52.

Needed this 40 years aho BUT since you closed 65 SOMEONE should have has some common sense and installed it immediately

We need one permanently! If you need to see ideas, talk to the department that oversees 41!
