Slug guns just leave to many deer wounded where a 30 caliber makes for a better kill no suffering for the deer

We need more calibers. The 300 blk is an awesome round for hunting. And a hell of alot cheaper than doing a one off custom. 358 hoosier.

I would like to see the overall casing length extended to include the 35 Remington (case length is 1.92 in or 1/8" over what's allowed) This is what the 358 Hoosier round is after cutting the brass down. Numerous articles show that the ballistics of the 35 Remington are large and slow and won't easily deflect from brush in our area.

I hunt with a 30-06 springfield which I used in TN and NC when I lived in those states and now I can't use my rifle because the case length is greater than 1.8 inches.

The law makes no sense. I understand the need for public safety, the hunt is also about the kill. Animals should never suffer. 30 cal. in a rifle is better controlled in a rifle than a 44 mag in a hand gun. who makes these rules?

I feel that any old cased round 45 70 should be allowed it was the round that won the West. Why does it have to be a pistol round? TC's can fire a rifle round in a pistol.

Please allow 30 caliber rifles to be used to harvest deer, such as the 30-30 as many other states allow.

After reading the cartridge list and comments, I feel compelled to put my two cents worth in here. While the .223 has proven to be capable of taking deer, I would rather see us petitioning for a more "agreeable" rule change, say, a minimum of the .243 Winchester. The politition's like to initiate law changes slowly, so it gives us some time to get used to it, before they make another, more stringent law. Well, maybe we should turn it back around on them the same way, start with the same rules used for hunting handguns, then when they see the changes that were made didn't cause any more accidents, then we can petition for more open rules. If this petition doesn't work out the way we would like, we should all lean hard on the guns and ammo manufacturers to produce a rifle and factory cartridge that is within our laws. I also believe we should agree, for now, that these cartridges would only be allowed in a single shot rifle (t/c encore), give it a couple years, then ask for a bolt or lever action, eventually, semi-auto(AR15). We may even compromise and say, for safety sake, that the rifle must be equipped with a scope. This may sound extreme, but we need to show them that a clean, accurate shot is everyone's ultimate goal, and that we are willing to try and work with them to help make these changes happen.

southern Indiana is especially hilly. .30 Caliber rifles are just as safe as a hot-loaded sabot slug.

Allowing more popular cartridges would be beneficial to all hunters. Firearms safety is the same no matter what the weapon. Just because it has more range, doesn't mean that it is more deadly if misused. It is the responsibility of the hunter to use good judgement and not misuse the weapon in anyway ,as mistakes are the reason for accidents, not the failure of the weapons.

Would love to see this happen, my sks was my first rifle purchase and always wanted to take Whitetail deer with it
