.have killed many many deer and elk with .223/556. Super reliable and excellent "all around" cartridge. Good enough for our US solders, good enough for me.

I am a native Hoosier and live in Wisconsin. I hunt with a 30/30 rifle and would love to use it in Indiana.

Being from Pennsylvania I own a few great deer guns that aren't legal for use in Indiana. It sure would be nice to be able to use them here.

I'm from Oregon where the use of rifles for hunting deer is very common. In Indiana I am forced to leave my proven 30-30 in the safe and hunt with a "shotgun. I can take an animal cleanly with one shot confidently with my 30-30 but don't feel comfortable taking a shot over 30 yards with the shotgun. The trajectories of the slugs are too inconsistent and have caused wounded animals to be able to run to someone else's property and result in a slow death. There are no reasons large cal rifles should not legal to hunt deer with in Indiana.

I FULLY SUPPORT THE USE OF 30 CALIBAR ROUNDS FOR HUNTING IN INDIANA. THE MUZZLELOADERS TODAY ARE AS CAPABLE AS THE HIGH POWER ROUNDS SO SAFETY IS NOT ISSUE. GET UPDATED DNR WORK WITH HUNTERS NOT AGAINST THEM

I wholeheartedly endorse using rifles as described for deer hunting. As noted, we use them on other game and varmints. Since majority of rifle shooters use scopes, probably safter.

I've got this .30-06 just begging to go out for a hunt. Its what I used when I lived out of Indiana. It would be great to take 'er out again given I don't have the money for a new rifle.

I agree completely. If the excuse is they shoot too far, that isn't valid as a .50 cal can shoot farther and I read in a science journal that a ricochet of a Shotgun slug travels farther than a rifle of the 30-30 30-06 variety (whether that is actually true is debatable) . If it is the worry about clean kills, I would take a 30-06 for a clean kill and accuracy over a shotgun slug any day.
