Laws that are made by those who are ignorant of hunting and firearms should leave the decisions to those who are experienced and exercise common sense.

I'd like to be able to hunt with the rifle I want to and make sure I can get a clean kill and be able to buy ammo for my gun

I agree that the 30 cal. Rounds are the perfect choice for deer hunting in southern Indiana. I hunted in Pennsylvania and Kentucky which are both similar in terrain as southern Indiana

I have hunted for years in other states with high power. But here my trusty 30/30 sits idle for deer. But I can take coyotes with it? Makes no sense

The rifle cartridge issue should be the same as in surrounding states like Michigan, Kentucky, and most hunters are responsible for their actions.if they are not go from there, a trial run should at least be issued.

The bottom line is, the DNR is not going to legalize .243 and larger rifles. The only thing that can save the rifle proposal is to contact our legislators and let them know that we disagree and want the rifles made legal, and ask them to intervene for us.

The DNR is quoted in the May 12th Indianapolis Star as saying that although allowing .243 and larger cartridges in rifles is neither dangerous nor detrimental to the deer heard, resistance to the use of rifles in Indiana is a social issue. This amounts to voting on emotions instead of facts. Therefore, the DNR is not going to recommend the change to the Natural Resource Commission (NRC) at the final-vote meeting on May 19th. The NRC routinely votes in alignment with DNR recommendations. This will kill the proposal. If you want to stop the vote until the DNR can become more enlightened by several State Legislators, send a short email to your senator and representative NOW. You can find them at Indiana.gov . I spoke to my senator today, and he and other legislators are very actively in the process of contacting the DNR in an attempt to stop this. If they fail, they can introduce legislation to legalize these rifles and thereby circumvent the DNR process and involvement. This would be very embarrassing to the DNR, but nothing will happen if your legislator does not know that you are in support.

30-30 and 45-70 rifle catridge should be used. This is a bullett with a min of .243 with no catrige length requirements

Lighter recoil rifle rounds will be great for my kids. I believe this will let kids and recoil sensitive people be better shots.

most that oppose this are really only concerned with someone harvesting "their deer". Die hard bow hunters will oppose this to the end, they do not realize they are their own enemies.
