House bill 1231 allows hunting with high powered rifles on private property only.

I am in favor of elimination of the maximum cartridge length rule, and of expanding caliber offerings to include .35 Remington and 45/70 Government.

My one problem is I live in a flat area of Indiana. I worry about the idiot with the 30.06 that shoots at movement and not a proper target with a proper back drop. Two years ago the cops pulled me and friends for a woman's house that was hit by a spent fosters 12 gauge slug, it dented the aluminum gutter. We all showed the cops that we had sabot rounds and had not fired the round, no deer that day, out shotguns were clean. This didn't matter, because we were the first hunters the cops found we got charged for the 400 in repairs and a ticket.

Long overdue, seems to me a non-issue,these rifles are far more efficient in the big picture of what we are trying to accomplish, swift, clean kills, Thank you.

I absolutely agree with this, and would love to see this pass if even only for people who hunt private property.

Change overdue . Other (rifle) states like Ky. don't see a problem .

I along with many other hunters would like to see the 30-30 and the 35 Remington made legal for deer hunting in Indiana for many reasons but one of the largest is the fact that many of the modern muzzle loading bullets of today have greater range than the 30-30 and the 35 Remington and I do not believe for a second that those 2 calibers will in any way cause more accidents than the other calibers that are already legal.

Please allow the use of higher caliber rifles during deer season. The reduced recoil will be welcomed for women, and young adults looking to start hunting.

I personally think Indiana law should be you can use what ever caliber you wish to hunt with!! A responsinable hunter will be able to use whatever without harming there selves or anyone else!!! That's my 2 sence!! Sincerly, George Burton!!

I would like to be able to use my .308cal rifle to hunt on private farmland in southern indiana. The land I hunt is much better suited for rifle than the much shorter range shotgun and muzzle loaders I am forced to use now. At the very least, allow in open rural areas. I sport shoot with those and much larger calibers there all the time, so why can't I deer hunt with it?
