The current status of the Indian Health system in America is beyond horrific. The Native Americans in our country are guaranteed by treaty to have the gift of free healthcare. However, more often then not Native Americans are either neglected, misdiagnosed or mistreated with consequences that in some cases result in often easily avoided deaths. These atrocities are rarely to never made public. The signatures gathered below are those of members of federally recognized tribes and/or family members who have been affected by the negligence and/or malpractice that is often administered within the Indian Health Systems of the United States. The undersigned demand immediate and appropriate actions to be taken by the federal government to drastically improve and maintain Indian Healthcare nationwide.

My son went to clinic with complaint of chest pain & shortness of breath, the nurse wrote down he complained of flu like symptoms. Doctor or nurse practitioner diagnosed virus without listening to lungs. 3 days later suffered cardiac arrest. EMT's did CPR , ER doctor revived & stabilized him & ICU kept home alive. They discovered his arrest was due to pneumonia that he had for days. The Indian Health Care Services let him die. Luckily a public hospital with help of EMT's have my son back to me.
This should not be an issue. Not for the Native People nor American people.

My husband almost died after surgery. The doctor they send people to half the time are not the right kind of doctor . For what is wrong with them.
