I have been on A.i.S.H. for 30 years and I have never had a day when food has not been a problem. I live with the bare minimum of everything. Food should not be a luxury!

Though I doubt us AISH benefits recipients will ever get an increase of $1000, I do think we need to be brought up at least the equivalent what the minimum wage increase of $15.00. plus with annual indexing for increases each year. I have been forced to take a line of credit just to meet the short fall of what I receive on AISH. And now I am in a possition where I have to move and lose my rent subsidy. Where am I going to find another $600 just to afford the rent in a better home? It is maddening and feels like I am being punished for having a health barriers I was born with.

it is abusive not to help these vulnerable people. They are on aish for obvious medical problems. These people need help more than anyone. Get your act together, Mr. Sabir, instead of sitting around being a complete dumbo.

There’s been no increase since 2012, it’s time to keep up with minimum wage increases.

I'm in a lot of debt, and have had trouble to find work. I need part time work to get by at all. I had to take out a line of credit and get more in debt just to buy necessities. It's not rocket science, minimum wage has gone up, so should AISH. We are making now LESS than minimum wage. Also, with the min. wage going up so has PRICES so everything is more EXPENSIVE. We are suffering. I'm about to file for bankruptcy and I'm staying at my parents with no way out of this mess. I'm in major financial trouble. Also I tried to escape abuse and AISH DIN'T HELP ME. So my Mom had to. I also had to quit my job and move cities because AISH REFUSED TO HELP ME ESCAPE ABUSE.
I have to pay for necessary chiropractic care for a spine condition and AISH refused to help.
Is AISH really here to HELP us? It doesn't feel like it. I'm grateful for what I have, because I would be hopeless and homeless (which if it wasn't for my parents I would be) without AISH. However...
I wish AISH would reach into their hearts a little more and have some more compassion.
If they get mad at me for saying this, that would be as heartless as the rest of what they did.
My glasses are in bad shape because I'm waiting for January so I can get new ones. They have been repaired a few times.
I also struggle with mental illness, and spine and hip problems, and I still go out and work when I can even though I'm in pain doing it. I think I'm doing my part, I'm not a sponger. It also makes my mental illness worse with all this financial stress. I feel afraid to talk to AISH because they say not to be rude to them but they can be rude to us.
It's not direct bad intentions, it's just serious apathy! It's hurting us all the lack of care!
The least they could do is give us a wage that a person can possibly live off of. Some of us are not able to work at all, so some of us are forced to get by without work. It's good that the help is there, but it's time to help a bit more. That's what I think. What do i do?

It's sad that AISH recipients have not had an increase in their monthly income ($1,588.00) since 2012. This means in the past 6 years the cost of living has gone up about 10%(9.99% to be exact) but their income has not. In other words they pay more for rent, groceries etc.. but now have less money to depend on overall. Considering the government is spending billions of dollars for improvements in Alberta, they need to make improvements for the less fortunate rather than ignore them as they are not heard.

AISH income has not increase since 2012 but since then inflation in Alberta has gone up 10% (9.99 to be exact) not to mention rent has gone up also. This is ridiculous. If we can find billions of dollars to spend all over Alberta then lets help the decent Albertans who truly need it yet are being ignored.

The current income that I and fellow AISH recipients get is NOT sufficient! A person working 40 hrs/week makes hundreds more than what we get..it isn't right or fair! We deserve to live comfortably and no struggle/stress with paying bills etc. We live below the poverty level. We are human beings and deserve more than this!
