An increase is overdue. In the last five years prices have skyrocketed, government has given their employees increases, min. wage has increased as well. We have the same financial outlay as anyone else. Disability means poverty.

Yes. Please increase the Aish payments. It is very stressful living every month not knowing if you can make ends meet leave alone be able to eat. This increase needs to happen.

I had tried to find a place to call home after a fire left me homeless, living on a cot in someones basement. I have ALS, try doing this in my shoes. I couldnt for months find anything that was affordable except for places I wouldnt put a enemy in! We live well UNDER the POVERTY level in Canada! How sad is that! Of no fault of my own, I am being treated by our goverment as something less than human, quality of life is everything and our lives lack it because the short sightedness of our elected officials, who can just vote themselves a raise while people on AISH suffer indignities, its shameful!

We need an increase to Aish. Health Benefits most time aren't covered and rent takes most of the money.

I am on AISH and hardly making ends meet. I am also diabetic and healthy eating is expensive. Some days I go without eating and right now I am not eating healthy because I can't afford it. My rent is going up $175 April 1st, 2017. I am terrified of my future as more money out of my AISH money is going on rent. Chances are that means more days of going without eating. Please, please increase our AISH payments asap. My anxiety disorder is at an all time high from worrying. Thank you ....

AISH hasn't been raised since Redford, and the least the government could do is implement a cola and cover our rent increases, and/or STOP the clawback when CPP raises CPP at the beginning of the year up to $1700/yr

I am LUCKY to be able to own my home for the equivalent cost for mortgage payments as it would be to rent. My issue is that the cost of living is skyrocketing and am getting more and more in debt trying to keep up with the costs involved in living. ie. Mtg, insurance, food, heating, water/sewer, car insurance, fuel for the car. I do not live in a major centre and travelling 40 minutes to do grocery shopping, banking, etc. is getting to the point where it is impossible. Something has to be done to improve this. I have in fact heard disturbing news that the AISH monthly benefit may actually be decreasing and be based on a case by case basis. This is a crime! Minimum wage to be increased to $15/hr, countless benefits and higher monthly payments for immigrants, more benefits for children.......??? What about looking after the people who can't efficiently subsidize their finances on their own through jobs. Cap the amount payable for child benefits, and put the money where it REALLY needs to be.

SOME OF US DO NOT DRIVE and DO NOT live "next door" to anything, like the Food Bank, or even regular retail shopping. I barely live within walking distance of over-priced Safeway. THAT is my option for shopping. I don't get to travel to the stores having specials so I can save money. Most store specials occur in the middle of the month after bills are paid and all money is spent. When the cupboard is bare, I can't exactly sit on my piddly grocery budget for 2 weeks waiting for sales that may or may not happen. Transportation is hell. Bus passes and tickets are as expensive as cab fares.
I have an anxiety condition where I loathe and dread having to go out at all. If I have to go out for anything, let alone to get groceries, it's so stressful Even if I can muster the nerve to brave the outside world and deal with people out of a dire need to go and get food or starve, all I wanna do is go straight to the store, get my stuff, and go straight home. Not wait around for buses and deal with the embarrassment of fumbling with more bags than I can carry myself with a whole month's worth of groceries on a crowded bus, turning the whole errand into an all-day event.
There should be cab vouchers. There should be some kind of HOME DELIVERY and "personal shopper" services for us "shut-ins". Perhaps a in addition to a raise in the benefits, a cooperative effort by AISH with all the major and even minor stores & outlets to organize such services would be in order?
Whether my anxiety is too overwhelming or the weather is brutal, or both, sometimes I simply CAN NOT get out on my own, when I need to. Again, I DO NOT DRIVE, and I have NO ONE I can call on to give me a ride. That "walk" to Safeway gets a lot longer in the snow and biting cold of winter, or even the blazing heat of summer. I am literally all on my own and ALONE. No "support system" of family and/or friends. And I can imagine there's lost of AISH recipients like me out there in the same situation. What are we suppo

AISH definitely needs to go up; I am a psychologist, and because I have MS and am on AISH, I am barely getting by! My condo fees are increasing every month, my property tax, heating bills, I didn't go to university to get two degrees in order to barely live above the poverty line. Something is definitely wrong here, thanks Alberta? WTH???
