Not only is this bad administrative practice because it opens the county up for multiple avenues of suit from citizens and members of the community that are wronged. It is bad administrative practice because you are publicly saying that you as a local government official do not believe that the subject matter EXPERTS that have dedicated their academic careers to fire department administration are wrong and you know better. It’s a shame to have to frame it in that setting but if this is what kind of corporate jargon you need us to speak to show you that firemen are not just some eddies and bobs that show up and have good cookouts. We are human beings with dangerous jobs and need the proper help to not get hurt. You would be one of the FEW departments that can make a wrong a right in your region. Not only would your direct area benefit from those extra hands. The people in that immediate mutual aid area for the department who may not have a department with adequate staffing or staffing at all. This isn’t about money and politics and unions trying to be unions. This issue is for the welfare of the CITIZENS of Pennsylvania and those who are visiting. If you have read this, thank you for your time. I would be surprised if you have if I were to be blunt.

I live in Spring Garden TWP, scary to think that if my house is on fire the first engine that will arrive would only have 2 people on it.

I believe that more than two people should be on a fire truck at all times. Firefighters are some peoples family members someone should have their back while they have ours.

After having worked with many of these great professionals for many years, I have seen first hand what they go through and the severe, real risks they take when they arrive on scene with minimal staffing. Most anybody would ask if they or their property was involved, they would want the best and fully staffed apparatus arriving to help them. I have seen engine crews arriving to working fire assignments and how unsafe that fire ground is throwing ladders, performing rescues and getting proper resources to the scene. Even vehicle accidents, when time matters, that more equipment (millions of dollars worth of apparatus) is not dispatched just to get enough personnel on scene to effectively mitigate a rescue. It’s not a matter of if but when and whom is involved in a preventable catastrophe if the staffing levels don’t improve. Not a temporary improvement for a short time, but a permanent standard that is set and met by the municipalities. I am fully supportive of improving the staffing level in our fire departments to the national standard. Please

It’s 2026, fire load and light weight construction are not in the FD’s favor like 1970. Fires burn hotter and faster. By not increasing staffing you not only put the residents and visitors at risk but you are risking the lives of firefighters YOU employ.

Absolutely absurd that we can’t have more than 2 firefighters on a fire truck. One is operating the pump and that only leaves one to get the hose, ladders ect. I challenge you to pull the hose by yourself, put up ladders, better yet try to remove a victim of a fire BY YOURSELF! This is negligent failing to provide adequate staffing!

Definitely need more staffing our lives depend on on it and we pay taxes for it. I’m not a big fan that 89-5 may respond to my house from 89-1 if they are all the way out there from my location. I understand training with everyone but it puts a long delay on the response my area

There is absolutely no reason why the rigs should be manned with less then 3 firemen. 2 is absolutely disgraceful and just asking for something to happen. You want us to pay for fire coverage but only wanna pay for 2 on each rig? Thats disgraceful, we deserve and demand more firemen on the truck and so do they! Fix it
