Petition to the Education Secretary, to Reflect True English History by Including Black Tudors in the National Curriculum

Yes, stop hiding facts and reveal the truth.

Well its a start

I fully stand by this petition and what it stands for, as I believe that learning about the African Tudors is and should be an essential part of the curriculum.

It is extremely important that a people understand who they are. History and culture defines what any group does, and how they see their future.

A necessary addition to the education system to highlight the true history of this country

About time.

The National Curriculum is currently so devoid of diversity that it gives nothing to students at primary and secondary school levels. It is important that it is publicly recognised that the very cultural and racial diversity enjoyed now has a past that needs to be exposed and discussed publicly.

LONG OVERDUE: In the event of any kind of curriculum reforms how can modern-day historians overlook the valid contribution made by Africans in England during Tudor times? It is fundamental to teach people the truth about the society they live in and the history that has created it. The history curriculum in this country is far too narrow in it's scope. Perhaps, if young people were taught the history of people that they could identify with they would find it more inspiring than learning about people like Henry VIII.

It was a great occasion yesterday when I listened to an illustrated talk by the writer Onyeka at Nottingham University.His presentation was well researched, which covered the Black Residence in Tudor England. I recommend this subject within the National Curriculum. Thank you

It is very important that our children are reminded that there people have played a major role in history. History is supposed to be about truth and balance.

I encourage EVERYONE to read 'Staying Power: The History of Black People in Britain' by Peter Fryer published by Pluto Press. This vital historical work which records Black presence in Britain as far back as 210AD. Time to wake up to Facts, Britain.

The inclusion of African Tudors into the National Curriculum is of particular significance. As research has shown, some Africans in England had important occupations in Tudor society, and were employed by powerful people because of the skills they possessed (Onyeka 2013

I agree that it is very important to teach black history in schools.

English/British history would be more interesting when all groups can find a positive reflexion of themselves in it. I enjoyed history when I discovered admeral Nelson stopped there and Understod the Crimean war because Mary decile served there. Also who are the more a mores queen Elsbeth spoke about.
