Thriving communities welcome the contributions of all citizens and understand that division prevents them from achieving their full potential.

To advance its mission to build a more vibrant community and prosperous economy, the Charleston Area Alliance is joining the hundreds of thousands of businesses, organizations and individuals from the Kanawha Valley and around the country that are taking a "Stand Against Racism" on April 30, 2010.

"Stand Against Racism" is a project sponsored by the YWCA to bring people together from all walks of life to raise awareness that racism still exists.

We, the undersigned, believe that the welcome mat should be out for all who want to make our region a better place to live, work and play, and are proud to add our name to the list of businesses, organizations and individuals in the region who are taking a stand FOR an inclusive community and a stand AGAINST racism:

Updates

March 10, 2010

The reach of this petition has hit a point where the Charleston Area Alliance can no longer ignore our formal request for a meeting. I am currently drafting a letter to summarize our collective position before we sit down with their board members.

Living in Charleston all my life, I want to see us move forward. Hate has no place here.
