As members of Rise Up Ocean County, a group comprised largely of residents of Ocean County,, we believe that any effort to label us a hate group or anti-Semitic is misguided and uninformed. That the efforts to do exactly that originate with a North Jersey politician, under the guise of a position held with The Simon Wiesenthal Center, an organization that is legitimately concerned with anti-Semitism and hate, is disquieting. That he is looking to advance a personal agenda on behalf of a small but influential group in Lakewood, at the expense of the majority of your constituents, is all the more reason to not give serious consideration to his demands.

Furthermore we believe that any governing body that adopts a resolution condemning the activities of Rise Up Ocean County does so as an affront to our first amendment right to free speech and expression and is thereby violating our constitutional right to same.

Rise Up Ocean County was founded on the belief that continued high density housing development in and around Lakewood is having catastrophic affects on our delicate ecosystem, is placing strains on our crumbling infrastructure and is draining financial resources from our public schools to support students attending private schools. Furthermore, the corruption that is allowing this to happen has a deleterious affect on all of Ocean County and must be stopped. Mindful of population projections over the next twelve years, it is our opinion that these problems will increase exponentially to unmanageable levels.

We stand shoulder to shoulder with all parties calling for unity in opposition to anti-Semitism and hate, neither has any place in Ocean County, least of all in the efforts of Rise Up Ocean County where none can be found.

We urge you to spend time on the Facebook page of Rise Up Ocean County, decide for yourself if the labels “hate” and “anti-Semitic” truly apply. You are duty bound do so on behalf of your constituents here in Ocean County rather than be guided by an interloper seeking to parlay false claims into political fortune while simultaneously serving the needs of a small but influential group in Lakewood.

This page has absolutely nothing to do with religion and everything to do with over development, crumbling infrastructure, failing public schools, quality of the environment, fraud and corruption.

I share the environmental and infrastructure concerns voiced by RUOC. I don’t care what race or religion is the cause. The rate of growth is unsupportable by our current water supply and utility infrastructure. It is unsafe, unwise, unwarranted.

We are simply against what over building and over population is doing to our area. We all have the right to be concerned what it is doing to our area and speak about it. It is our freedom of speech.

Stay the course. Overdevelopment will ruin it for all, and ultimately, even for those who initially benefited from it. The environment cannot speak for itself. Rising up for it is not anti-Semitic.

Sad this isn't just an Ocean County problem but the moment you standup for your rights you are labeled an anti semite. Why does only one side have a protected voice and everyone else is called a bigot?

Any resolution passed in an effort to stifle RUOC, or ANY person or entities Constitutionally GAURANTEED RIGHT to free edema of speech, freedom of assembly, and freedom of speech is a direct assault on the United States Constitution. How dare you Lakewood ? How dare you Toms River ?

I believe that everyone should be able to practice whatever religion they believe in. The reason I don’t want their community to move to my hometown is because of the over building and congestion that is created by the overwheming influx. The rules for the Lakewood industrial park havce erroded beyond comprehension. Since when do tractor trailers and children go together? There used to be a volleyball net on Oberlin Ave. Imagine that ball being hit into the roadway in front of a fully loaded (unable to stop quickly) tractor trailer! The industrial park was created to help reduce real estate taxes. With so many (exempt) schools who do not pay taxes, what will happen when the whole park is schools? I don’t want to pay for school busing that will add significantly to our tax bills. And how many homes will be transformed into yeshevas or synagogues? Again adding to our tax bills. These things have nothing to do with religion it has to do with quality of life. It’s a nighmare trying to drive around Lakewood. It didn’t used to be that way. I don’t want my hometown to turn into another Lakewood. Again nothing to do with religion. Next stop Ocean county government? They already own Lakewood twsp and the Board of Ed. People who have nothing to do with the public schools except the busing. Get rid of courtesy busing! You can’t afford it. I feel so sorry for anyone who has a child in that public school system. It was never great but it just gets worse and worse. No money for books and more, but lots of money to pay for hidden talented community children. How many in that school are Christian, black or Hispanic? I believe that everything I have said is not anti-semetic. It’s about quality of life. That’s all folks.

Born and raised in Lakewood and not going anywhere soon. There is even an Aaron Kotler signature, must have seen the light.
