If the Superintendent prefers to have her hires at the helm she should at least allow Cathy Hamilton to earn her full retirement as a full time teacher.

I would like nothing better than to keep Cathy Hamilton for 3 more years, and I do think it would be the "right thing to do". I hope that is still an option. She has quite the legacy at Lincoln. We will miss her dearly if/when she goes.

As a retired staff member of district 97, I was appalled to hear that Cathy Hamilton might not be given the opportunity to receive her full pension. Like so many Lincoln staff members, students, and families, I have directly witnessed the positive impact that Cathy has made in the Lincoln school community. She has truly been been one of the strongest principals district 97 has had.
Through no fault of her own, Cathy has become a victim of fiscal irresponsibility of our state government. After such a dedicated, stellar career, I sincerely hope that the school board re-considers its position on this matter.

Ms. Hamilton has served this community well as an excellent principle of Lincoln Elementary School during the six years that my son attended. It would be truly shocking if the Board of Education were to be so ungrateful, shortsighted and churlish as to refuse to allow her to serve out her tenure at Lincoln, where she has done nothing but good for the families of this community. She deserves to be able to retire at a time of her choosing and with a full pension. I hope that this pointless and shameful decision will be overturned. Sincerely, Katharine J. My understanding, Cathy Hamilton has been and is still a highly regarded educator in the Oak Park school district community. But, not so much by the Superintendent or the school board. I guess doing what is right by a good employee is not a precedent that the Superintendent or the Oak Park School Board want to set. Not often do I sign petitions but, this one is worth signing and commenting on.

Through no fault of her own Cathy was an unfortunate casualty of the state rescinding the ERO. She served so many of our kids with integrity, kindnes and love. We need to do right by her.

Doing what's right and honorable shouldn't be so hard, you shouldn't worry about precedent but have the strength to make each decision on a case by case basis. Has she not done a good job? By keeping her who would get harmed? Yes it really is that simple!

Cathy Hamilton has devoted her career to D97 and the love and admiration she has gained from her students, peers, staff, parents, and community should speak volumes. Yes, this is a unique situation but stepping up and showing you value our voices could be the most respected thing The Board could do. Our world could use a little positivity.
