Please do the right thing & retain Ms. Hamilton as Principal of Lincoln for the three years required for her to gain her full pension. She has earned it & has likely counted on it in order to survive financially after retirement. I consider it shameful the Board is holding their ground on this despite the will of the community. I wonder how you would feel if the tables were turned?

Lincoln community is extremely grateful for Ms. Hamilton's leadership. She is simply phenomenal, she listens to everybody concerns- people of All colors: white, black brown and purple; parents, staff, faculty and students. Everybody loves Ms. Hamilton and it will be a big mistake to let her go. She is so gifted and her vision is what has made Lincoln Elementary the best Best School in district 97- because it is the largest, most diverse with a fantastic faculty, provding the community with a nurturing, creative, fun learning environment. Go Kathy Hamilton. The Velegar family wI'll for ever be grateful for her services. 816 S Maple Avenue.

Oak Park is such a caring, connected community. That should apply to our leaders in education as much as it does for students. Not a day goes by that myself and all my colleagues, including Ms. Hamilton, does not assess the need and rights of children and move to meet them. Why can't we do the same for an experienced administrator and teacher who took a risk on good faith and got the short end of the stick due to a changing political landscape? We would be lucky to keep her and it is the right thing to do.

I have witnessed first hand Cathy's Compassionate leadership. I don't know what criteria the board has for not jumping at the chance to keep her. But it is certainly not what is best for the kids and community of Lincoln Elementary School.

This process and decision seems to lack the integrity Oak Park parents, teachers, and community members would like to see from the district leadership. The decision is also one that shows very little respect to Ms. Hamilton's contributions and loyalty to this community. Please rethink this decision and try to bring some dignity to this process, for all who are invested in this now, and in the years to come.

Kathy has been a great asset to the community and we all should do what we can to keep her - it will be certainly more beneficial for continuity of learning I feel - She has been vested to the service of this community for many years and if she wants to take a deduction in pay to continue on her role for a few more years why not? Is this another example of driving out a tested and qualified individual for someone new willing to take less pay? Who is making these decisions and how much have they themselves invested in our community? Ageism is alive and well and should not be tolerated.

The school board should take into consideration the impact that losing Cathy Hamilton would have on the children at Lincoln. To lose a trusted adult figure as a child is difficult and by allowing Cathy to work for an additional three years, the kids will be able to get used to the idea of her retiring, versus an abrupt disappearance. Shouldn't this issue be about what's best for the children? And if it isn't, what is the real issue?

Cathy Hamilton helped me basically survive 4th grade. She was a fabulous teacher but went beyond her duties to help me deal with the death of my father. I live in Montana now and am a bit disappointed - no, disgusted - in how District 97 has handled this situation. Cathy is a great woman, a great teacher, a great principal, who is admired by those in the Oak Park community. Come on D97, do what's right and good for the OP community - give her her job back!
